Oxford Judo is committed to supporting its competitive players in their development, at whatever level they compete. As such, several financial and training opportunities are made available to those representing Oxford Judo:
- Training at High Wycombe Judo Centre – Oxford Judo members train for £2.50
Oxford Judo has very good links with HWJC, previously a national training centre for British Judo, and keenly supports players training at the centre.
Members of Oxford Judo enjoy a reduced training fee at HWJC for all sessions.
Communal transport is arranged to the Monday night randori session where players of all weights will find hard randori. All graded players with competitive ambitions, of whatever ability, are highly encouraged to attend these sessions though priority will be given to regular attendees, players of higher grades or those with impending competitions in the case of limited transport space.
- The Competitors Fund – Financial support for all members representing Oxford Judo.
Players competing under Oxford Judo in any tournament should email the OUJC treasurer (cc captains) when they attend a competition stating, separately, entry fee and travel costs incurred.
On a termly basis, the Competitors Fund, will be split proportionally amongst those competing depending on available funds.
- Club Competition Attendance
Certain competitions throughout the year are targeted by the club, which arranges entries, including subsidised fees and communal transport/accommodation. Club members will be made aware of these in advance and encouraged to attend.
- Fitness Testing
OUJC organises termly fitness testing for players to monitor their progress.
- Nutrition/Fitness Advice
OUJC has several members with UKCC coaching qualifications and/or experience of fitness/nutrition away from the mat who are more than willing to share their combined wisdom for players wishing to push themselves outside of organised sessions.
