Oxford Judo Nominated for Two Sports Federation Awards

In recognition of the fantastic competitive results, coaching, outreach, and club organisation that has seen Oxford Judo maintain its place in 2009-10 as one of the preeminent judo clubs in the UK, we find ourselves shortlisted once again for the Oxford University Sports Federation Annual Awards list. Winners will be announced at the ever-popular Sports Federation Ball and Awards Ceremony on Wednesday 25th November, so watch this space.

This year the Club has been nominated for the prestigious Elmer Cotton Sports Club of the Year award, on the back of convincing Varsity victories against Cambridge and a swathe of other competitive successes. Contributing to these successes with several outstanding results, our previous Women’s Captain Rebecca Bayliss is also recognised in her nomination to the coveted Sportswoman of the Year award.

Reaching the shortlist for these awards is an achievement in itself, considering the range and level of sporting talent that Oxford University nurtures each year. Nevertheless, we hope to see Oxford Judo represented on yet another winner’s podium (or two) at the ceremony on Wednesday, adding a further stamp of approval to an excellent year.
