Oxford Judo success at High Wycombe Kyu Grade Cup!

On Saturday, the Oxford Judo Club competed in the High Wycombe Kyu Grade Cup and came back with six medals: two gold, three silvers and a bronze. There was lots of good action, with ippons and wins for everyone on the team as well as some well earned dan grade points.

Ella Corrick took gold in the women’s green & under u70kg with two wins, both by ippon. Ella then moved up to compete in the blue/brown belt comp and took silver with a win by ippon.

Dmitry Zharkov took gold in u66kg with a dominant display, winning all three of his fights by ippon, spending about three minutes in total on the mat.

Izzy Routledge took silver in the u52kg blue & brown belt category with a win by ippon.

Greg Mook took silver in green & under u73kg with 3 wins and 2 ippons. Alex Emmot, in the same category, was in his first competition. Alex took his first contest by ippon and we can expect to see much more of that in the future.

Antonia Webb, in brown & under +70kg, managed to beat everyone in her pool at least once and came home with a bronze from three wins by ippon.

Please join me in congratulating the team for their fine performance!
