There was no rest on Saturday for the nine judoka who came down to the dojo on midday for an extra high intensity fitness session. The session was held by PowerWave, who are a part of the Oxford University Sports Department’s fitness classes, and they were sure to put us to work.
The five different exercises were carried out with a heavy bag, either weighing 7 kg or 12 kg, and repeated four times each for a total of 20 minutes with no rest in between. To the instructor’s initial surprise some of our women chose the heavier bags, but no doubt was left once the final numbers were in. Participants absolutely smashed the workout, and it was a great way to get a maximum effort burn in such short time.
