The annual British Judo Council Award Dinner was held on Saturday 10th March 2012 in Charing Cross Hotel in London and Oxford Judo coaches Chris and Carol Doherty were amongst the guests of honour.

2012 Judo Varsity in Town Hall

On Sunday 11th March, the Oxford and Cambridge Judo Clubs will convene for the annual Judo Varsity Match. Oxford will host this year’s competition at the Oxford Town Hall. Doors
open to spectators at 1pm.

The First Grading of the Largest Beginner’s Class Ever

This year, Oxford Judo was extremely pleased to welcome the largest beginner’s class in its history. Every Friday, about 30 novices fill our dojo and learn the basics of judo. After six weeks of hard work, they attended their first grading and they all have gained red belts.

Oxford Judo achieves an “almost perfect” medal record at BJC nationals

Due to several injuries, Oxford Judo was able to send only two players to the British Judo Council Senior National Championships, but both of them came back with a medal. Bradley Joyce impressed with a flawless performance to secure gold in the O100kg Dan grade category. Vitek Sipal fought extremely well and secured a bronze in the very competitive U81kg Dan grade category.

Kurash World Championships

Two members of Oxford Judo have just returned from Uzbekistan after taking part in the Kurash World Championships as part of the Great Britain team.
